Meeting of ambassadors of Moldova held in Chisinau

Chisinau, August 18 /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration is organizing in Chisinau on August 18 -19 a meeting of our country's ambassadors -Diplomacy of the Republic of Moldova in the context of regional opportunities and challenges.

According to the MAEIE public diplomacy, strategic communication and media relations service, the event's inauguration by Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will take place today, starting at 9:00 a.m., with the participation of President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu.

The message from the opening of the meeting will be broadcast live on the MAEIE's Facebook page and our diplomatic missions abroad.

The event aims to consider issues related to the implementation of the foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova and to establish new tasks and priorities in the short and medium term, to assess the activity of diplomatic missions and to increase their efficiency. The meeting will focus on issues related to the evolution of international relations from the last period, in particular threats to regional and international security.

The next steps will also be discussed regarding the granting of candidate country status for EU accession to the Republic of Moldova, as well as carrying out the implementation plan of the 9 recommendations proposed by the European Commission.

A priority on the agenda is also the problems faced by the diaspora, the ways to offer social protection to Moldovan citizens temporarily working abroad. The heads of diplomatic missions will participate in the works of Diaspora Day.

To optimize the activity of the embassies, to formulate concrete tasks for the institutions of the diplomatic service in order to achieve the goals set by the authorities in foreign policy, the event's agenda includes meetings of the heads of missions with President Maia Sandu, Speaker Igor Grosu, other heads of the state institutions.

At the same time, as special guests - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Aurescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, director of the Department of Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France Helene Dantoine will attend in videoconferencing.
