Customs Service collected over 623 million lei last week

Chisinau, Oct. 3 /MOLDPRES/- On 26 September - 2 October the Customs Service collected over 623.5 million lei (about 31.1 million euros) to the state budget, up by 9.4% than the same period last year.
According to the institution, private people introduced goods whose value in customs exceeds the non-taxable limit, being collected payments worth more than 6.5 million lei, which represents 2.9% of the total amount collected. The money collected from taxpayers is paid directly into the state budget and redistributed for salaries, infrastructure development, social projects etc.
Also, during the past week, 11,652 customs declarations were completed, and the flow of means of transport was 96,284 crossings.
In terms of the fight against fraud, 46 violations of customs legislation were found and fines of over 189 thousand lei were imposed. At the same time, on 1–30 September, customs officials found 306 violations of customs legislation and imposed fines of 1,056,281 lei, and since the beginning of the year, 3,940 cases were found and fines of 14 212,591 lei.
This year, the Customs Service collected about 24.5 billion lei to the state budget, up by 21.4% than the receipts of the same period last year.
