As many as 1,123 cases of breast cancer registered in Moldova in 2021

Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - The incidence of breast cancer in 2021 was 31.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants or 1,123 cases in Moldova. This is one of the most spread types of cancer; it is on the first position and is the main cause of death among women. The National Public Health Agency (ANSP) made public data to this effect, in the context of marking the monthly event of breast cancer awareness.
According to ANSP, the monthly event is a yearly campaign of residents’ awareness about the importance of the measures of prevention and early detection of breast cancer. Recognized as rose colour month, on this period, women are urged to pay more attention to their health and remember about the fact that the early detection of the disease enhances the rate of the treatment’s success.
This year, the title of the event is, We Recover Together, in order to make sure that each woman has access to quality services and proper support for the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and care.
According to specialists, there are more risk factors, both changeable and unchangeable, which are related to the breast cancer. Among the factors triggered by the lifestyle, specialists mention: consumption of alcohol, physical inactivity, unsound nourishment, obesity, smoking, radiations.
Physicians reiterate that, if this breast cancer is diagnosed early and treated properly, the rate of survival following this disease is of 99 per cent.
