Moldova's parliamentary group on Gagauzia considers package of normative acts on process of consultations

Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/ - The parliamentary working group on Gagauzia has held a meeting, during which it considered the package of normative acts on the process of consultations. The package comprises a draft law on the amendment of the Parliament’s Regulation, the amendment of the law on the normative acts and draft laws on the amendment of normative acts on the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (UTA Gagauzia). The meeting was organized and facilitated by the CMI - Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, the parliament’s cmmmunication and public relations department has reported.
„We are happy that we met face to face after a break, during which the colleagues worked on the subjects from the agenda, which we discuss today. I hope that the today’s meeting and the forthcoming ones will be based on a constructive approach, so that the working group has tangible results,’’ the co-head of the Group on behalf of the parliament, Larisa Voloh, said.
„Our goal and position represent the integration of Gagauzia in all spheres: political, cultural, social – within Moldova. Therefore, we want to continue this dialogue; we will continue meeting, in order to discuss and promote the interests of Gagauzia,’’ the co-head of the group on behalf of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, Serghei Cimpoies, said.
At the meeting, the members of the group analyzed the draft laws and unanimously backed the package of normative acts on consultations. According to the package, Moldova’s parliament will consult the legislative body of Gagauzia on subjects related to the autonomy, in the process of working out of draft laws. Also, the package establishes that UTA Gagauzia will consult the central authorities on subjects from various sectors.
At the same time, the MPs discussed also other priorities of the working group and decided on subjects which need the actions’ deepening.
The working group for ensuring, within the constitutional norms, of the functionality of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and of Moldova’s legislative provisions in relation with the special status of UTA Gagauzia, set up in 2015, is a platform of permanent dialogue between Moldova’s parliament and the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, made up of an equal number of lawmakers on behalf of Chisinau and Comrat. The regular meetings of the working group are facilitated by the CMI - Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, within the project, Dialogue on Gagauzia, financed by Sweden, within which it provides expertise and good practices to the process of dialogue.
