Two scientific conferences dedicated to departed Moldovan encyclopaedist held in Chisinau

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ - The B.P. Hasdeu Municipal Library has organized two events dedicated to the departed writer, folklorist and encyclopaedist, Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu – the spiritual protector of the Municipal Library. Thus, a scientific conference titled, Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu -185th birthday anniversary, was held on 24 February and the scientific conference, Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu received by writers and librarians at the 185th birthday anniversary, was held on 26 February.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the library’s director, Mariana Harjevschi, said the library during time had organized more cultural activities, editings of publications, bibliographic researches, book exhibitions, in order to honour the memory of the great scholar, Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, whose name the municipal library has been bearing since 1988.
Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu (the birth name Tadeu Hâjdeu, was born in Cristinesti, Hotin region, presently Ukraine, on 26 February 1838 and died in Campina (Romania), on 25 August 1907) was writer and philologist, pioneer in various branches of the Romanian philology and history. Academician, encyclopaedist, jurist, linguist, publicist, historian and political figure, Hasdeu was one of the greatest personalities of the Romanian history of all times.
