Government launches Express European Village program

Chisinau, April 26 /MOLDPRES/- Local authorities will be able to implement fast projects, with a maximum completion period of 6 months, and will be able to solve the urgent needs of localities by launching the Express European Village program. Also, the procedure for registering regional and local development projects in the contest will be simplified, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Government approved today following the initiative of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development the changes necessary to optimize the management of the financial means of the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL).

Four types of project calls were set up, one of them is innovative - it refers to small grant calls, which are organized in a simplified way. The new type of call offers applicants the opportunity to prepare projects in limited terms, with a minimum set of documents, and submit them for obtaining funding.

In the context of the energy crisis, a new measure was set - the energy efficiency of public buildings - in the field of intervention "improvement of the regional technical-building infrastructure". This provides for the energy efficiency of kindergartens, schools, hospitals, asylums, orphanages.

"Following the additions, the process of organizing contests for the identification, evaluation and approval of projects will be significantly improved," Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Lilia Dabija said.

100 projects under the European Village Program have already been completed, and almost 100 thousand people benefit from their results. Thus, more than 20 thousand people got access to drinking water, and almost 34 thousand enjoy public lighting. At the same time, 14 kindergartens were renovated or equipped, nine gymnasiums, three high schools and 18 cultural centers were modernized.
