Ilan Shor might remain without MP mandate

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament will consider a draft decision finding out the de jure ceasing of the capacity of lawmaker of Ilan Shor. At a today’s meeting, the members of the parliament’s juridical commission for appointments and immunities approved a report for this legislative initiative.
The draft decision envisages that one mandate of MP, which belongs to the Shor Political Party, might be declared vacant.
On 13 April 2023, after two days of judicial discussions, the Chisinau Court of Appeal pronounced the operative part of the judgement in the Shor file, which is part of the Bank Fraud file, according to which Ilan Shor was recognized guilty and a final ruling was taken on his imprisonment for 15 years in a close-type penitentiary, with the deprivation of the right to hold offices in the banking system for a five-year period. Under the ruling, Ilan Shor is to return more than 5.2 billion lei (260 million euros).
