Ministry of Justice to appoint commission to liquidate Shor party

Chisinau, June 20. /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Justice, as the body competent to take the subsequent measures set by yesterday's Decision of the Constitutional Court and by Law No 294/2007 on political parties will appoint a commission for the liquidation of the Shor Political Party. It will take all the necessary measures to liquidate and delete this party from the State Register of Legal Entities and will request the Public Services Agency to record in the state register of legal entities starting the liquidation procedure. Minister of Justice Veronica Mihailov-Moraru made the statement today.

Such a decision of the Constitutional Court is a first for our country.

"The notification on the control of the constitutionality of the Shor Party was submitted by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with the request to check the constitutionality of the party, starting from its activity, which presented all the appearances of militating against the principles of the rule of law, the sovereignty and independence of the country ( frequent violation of electoral legislation; inclusion of party leaders in the international sanctions lists of several states, intentions to violently overthrow the constitutional order; receiving support, including financial, from the services of a third state to influence the state's internal policy life and to divert the direction towards European integration). Based on what was established by the Court, the Shor Party is considered legally dissolved on the date of the Court's decision, and the Ministry of Justice is to appoint a commission to liquidate the party", said the minister.

She noted that the Constitutional Court also made a decision on the mandates of this party's deputies, who will continue to exercise their mandates as independent deputies, without the right to affiliate with other parliamentary factions.

Yesterday, the Constitutional Court, after a long examination process declared the Shor Party as unconstitutional.
