Romanian physician receives title Doctor Honoris Causa of Nicolae Testemitanu Medical University of Moldova

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Senate of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) has awarded the title Doctor Honoris Causa to university professor, PhD in medical sciences, head of the Urology Clinic of the Iuliu Hateganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy from the Cluj-Napoca city, Romania, Ioan Coman.
The ceremony of awarding took place at the eighth Congress of Urology, Renal Dialysis and Transplant from Moldova.
The Laudation unveiled by Rector of the Nicolae Testemitanu USMF Emil Ceban reads that ‘’Ioan Coman is a well-known personality of the health system from Romania; he is the pioneer of the laparoscopic and robotic urological surgery and he essentially contributed to the improvement of the teaching process at the department of surgical urology and nephrology of the Nicolae Testemitanu USMF through donations of textbooks and monographs, including treaties and urology and urological oncology.’’
The high title was awarded to physician Ioan Coman for meritorious results in the promotion of the medical science and practice, implementation of modern ways of diagnosis and treatment in diverse urological pathologies, significant contribution to the training and qualification of the scientific and teaching staff of Moldova’s Medical University and the medical staff of the health system from Moldova, as well as for substantial contribution to the development of the cooperation relations between the two universities.
In the end of the ceremony, professor Coman gave a lecture for the members of the university community titled, The Cluj urology school – promoter of laparoscopy and robotics in the urological surgery.
Ioan Coman has been working as physician since 1981.
