Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean today went to the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN), to discuss with the farmers who had come with tractors to stage a protest in the centre of the Moldovan capital.
The PM said that the cabinet was further looking for solutions to the problems faced by farmers and put at their disposal a sum of more than 1 billion lei (500 million euros).
”Along with you, we saw the figures which had mutually confirmed. We go together to ask for the assistance which we will eventually receive from the European Union or from other partners. The government, in continuation, will look for solutions, just as it must seek them for other categories. The cabinet makes available 1 billion lei to the farmers. This is what we can do, what we can allocate on this period, as we must earmark money in other sectors as well. Till late next July, we will have all subsidies demanded for the 2023 year. All these subsidies will be disbursed, just as we have agreed with you. The government is quite attentive to the commercial flows as regards the transit and import of cereals,’’ Dorin Recean said.
More farmers today came with tractors to the centre of Chisinau and staged a protest. They expressed discontent with the situation in the agricultural sector. The farmers parked their tractors on PMAN and then moved around the government building and signaled for a long time.
