Chisinau, June 21. /MOLDPRES/- We are determined to keep up the pace of reforms and to concretely demonstrate our commitment to European values and standards. Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration made the statement today.
The official noted that during the period, the Republic of Moldova has taken significant steps in fulfilling the nine recommendations set by the European Commission. "Today we want to highlight some of the progress made in the first three key areas: justice reform; improving the electoral code and fighting corruption. In the coming days, we will continue to highlight the other recommendations set by the European Commission, in order to provide a complete picture of the progress made by the Republic of Moldova on its way to joining the European Union", said Popescu.
He said that Chisinau authorities are determined to keep up the pace of reforms and concretely demonstrate their commitment to European values and standards. "Through our achievements, we want to win the support and trust of the European Union in initiating negotiations on our accession to the community block by the end of this year," he said.
On June 23 last year, the Republic of Moldova received the status of a candidate country for joining the European Union. The decision was unanimously approved by the European Council. Our country's application for EU membership was signed by President Maia Sandu on March 3, 2022.
