U.S. Embassy in Moldova launches new contest for grants programme

Chisinau, 3 November/MOLDPRES/ - The U.S. Embassy launched a new competition for assistance grants within the Grants for Democracy programme. Non-governmental organisations may participate in the competition by presenting projects that would contribute to developing democracy and civil society in Moldova.

Projects aiming at strengthening and promoting civil society, democratic institutions and environmental protection, the institutionalisation of open, pluralistic and democratic processes at the local level, public participation in decision-making, free access to information, freedom of expression, leadership transparency and good governance, strengthening confidence can be submitted for the contest.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Moldova, charity activities and projects related to health, political and party activities, scientific research, commercial activities will not be funded within the programme.

The value of the awarded grants varies between 5,000 and 24,000 dollars. They will be offered for a period of 6-12 months. The deadline for submitting applications expires on 1 December at 18:00.
