Moldovan, Romanian officials tackle cooperation, assistance, projects, Association Agreement

Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/ -Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Valeriu Chiveri today met Secretary State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Aurescu, event which includes in the periodical bilateral political consultations, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's information and media communication service has reported.
The officials reviewed the joint actions on political dialogue development, economic cooperation and development assistance.
The sides welcomed the significant increase of the bilateral trade exchanges, Romania becoming the first commercial partner of Moldova. At the same time, the officials reiterated the need to continue the joint efforts to diversify the ways to supply gas and strengthen Moldova's energy security.
The sides also emphasised the successful implementation of some projects via the assistance programmes. In the context, four memorandums of understanding on providing 7-million-euro-worth grant, in order to restore and build kindergartens, supply coal meant to support socially vulnerable groups from Moldova, renovate the Organ Hall, as well as to restore and endow with equipment the Mother's and Child Institute, were signed during the Romanian delegation's visit to Moldova.
The officials paid special attention to Moldova's European agenda. Valeriu Chiveri thanked for the significant support provided for Moldova's European path. In the context, the sides welcomed the recent ratification of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement by the European Parliament.
The officials also exchanged views about the Transnistrian conflict and regional situation.
