Moldovan premier, top EU official tackle European integration, reforms, assistance

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, who is on a two-day official visit to Brussels, met President of the European Council Donald Tusk today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
„This visit has a special significance for me, being at the beginning of my mandate as prime minister,” Gaburici said.
After the meeting, the officials held a joint news briefing. Chiril Gaburici said that the visit was a very important one for Moldova, in the context of Moldova's European integration. „I have the honour to lead a pro-European government, it is a beginning for me and Moldova, which follows its European path, started in 2009. The European Union is one of the most important foreign partners of Moldova. This is a partnership for Moldova’s European future and is our solid engagement to speed up reforms, so that the European integration to provide real benefits to the Moldovan citizens,” Gaburici said.
Gaburici also referred to the government’s priorities: justice reform, fight against corruption, banking system transparency, sustainable economy. Chiril Gaburici specified that the EU monitoring would be as important as the assistance provided to Moldova, in order to carry out reforms.
For his part, Donald Tusk reiterated the European Union’s support provided to Moldova. „We positively appreciate the pro-European stable and firm choice of Moldova. In the region, Moldova is an example of pro-European choices and ambitions,” Tusk said.
Chiril Gaburici pays a visit to Brussels on 26-27 February. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman is also part of the delegation. This is the first official visit abroad of Chiril Gaburici after swearing in office.
