Moldovan government approves draft on establishing anniversary medal

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The government today passed a bill on setting up a jubilee medal „70th Anniversary of Ending of the World War II”.
Under a notification to the draft, the medal will be given to”servicemen and civilian employees who participated in the fights on fronts of the World War II and who, within this period, served in the armed forces involved in the conflagration, partisans and participants in the illegal movement in the concerned period, persons who worked behind the battle-fronts, former prisoners in the internment camps and ghettos,” Defence Minister Viorel Cibotaru said. He added that the medal would be awarded to about 2,000 people.
Also today, the cabinet approved a draft law on ratification of the ”Decision of the Council of heads of states of the Commonwealth of Independent States on the Plan of priority actions for preparing and marking the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet nation in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.” The above-mentioned plan stipulates the holding of military parades, scientific conferences and organising meetings with veterans.
Both bills are to be considered and adopted by the parliament. The 70th anniversary of the end of the World War II is marked in 2015.
