Luxembourg premier to pay first visit to Moldova

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel will pay the first visit to Moldova, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
Moldovan Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici invited his counterpart of Luxembourg to visit Moldova at a meeting held in Luxembourg. Thus, the sides approached issues on the agenda of the visit. This will be first visit to Moldova by a premier of Luxembourg following the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two states (16 June 1992).
The two premiers held discussions on the relations between Moldova and Luxembourg. They pointed out the boosting of the political dialogue between Moldova and Luxembourg and stimulating the bilateral ties at high level. The officials opted for turning to good account the potential of developing the bilateral cooperation, especially on the economic and investment dimension.
Chiril Gaburici thanked his Luxembourg counterpart for the support provided to Moldova by Luxembourg in European integration at European level, as well as in the bilateral cooperation.
“We are interested in taking over the best experience and practices in areas in which Luxembourg traditionally has a more advanced experience – domestic affairs, justice, human rights, penitentiary system,” Chiril Gaburici specified.
For his part, Xavier Bettel confirmed the Luxembourg government’s willingness to provide the needed expertise and assistance, in order to adjust the regulations of Moldova’s financial and banking system to the European standards, as well as to continue projects in this sector through the Financial Technology Transfer Agency of Luxembourg.
So far, Moldova and Luxembourg have signed cooperation agreements in the field of avoidance of double taxation and preventing fiscal evasion in terms of taxes on income and capital.
