Moldovan, European officials tackle reforms, projects, assistance

Chisinau, 30 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur met Head of the Office of the Council of Europe in Moldova José-Luis Herrero today, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
Andrei Galbur reiterated the Moldovan authorities’ firm willingness to fully implement the action plan on supporting democratic reforms in Moldova for 2013-2016 (AP), as well as to launch next projects in such areas as fighting trafficking of humans, preventing and fighting corruption, promoting media freedom and pluralism in Moldova.
The officials welcomed the organisation of the first meeting of the Standing Committee on monitoring AP implementation, due in Chisinau, on 30 June.
For his part, José-Luis Herrero reiterated the Council’s support for the Moldovan authorities’ efforts to reform the justice sector and prosecution, fighting corruption and promoting human rights.
The sides also exchanged opinions on possible assistance projects, by including representatives from the Territorial Administrative Unit (UTA) of Gagauzia and Transnistrian region.
At the same time, the officials addressed the actions due to be carried out to mark the 20th anniversary of Moldova’s accession to the Council of Europe on 13 July 2015.
