Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici participated in the inauguration of European city 2015 event, held on the Great National Assembly Square on 10 May, on the occasion of Europe Day, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
Gaburici pointed out that the European integration was a priority of Moldovan government. He remarked that the country had every support from European partners in the path. The premier referred to his visits to Brussels, as well as the recent visit by President of European Council Donald Tusk, who described Moldova as the most perspective partner in European expansion.
At the same time, the premier noted that it was still much work to meet the set goals. "Our efforts of European integration take place in an atmosphere of social tension, economic problems and unprecedented level of corruption. We are committed to work hard to recover trust of people and foreign partners", he noted.
Gaburici voiced confidence that in particular, the implementation of European project would bring a guarantee for welfare, peace and safety of citizens, for building transparent and democratic society in Moldova.
"Each of us has at least one relative working abroad. Each of us knows how it is there, knows how many things we can learn and how much we have to work in order to bring Europe at home. It is not easy, the European countries have traditions for hundreds of years in the way they manage economy, justice. We are at the early stage. Each of us knows well everything we do today is for our children and their future. In my opinion, there is no us and you, governance and citizen. A country can exist only through unity. I believe in Moldova as this is the country where my parents grow old and my children grow up. Let's fight together for a peaceful and secure future, for a European future", he concluded.
Gaburici expressed gratitude to all members of diplomatic missions operating in Moldova for support provided to the country.
After the event, the premier passed by the stands of diplomatic missions of European countries, public institutions and non-governmental organisations, which presented information releases about the EU member states and cooperation between Moldova and EU.
Attending the event were President Nicolae Timofti, Head of EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola, Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoaca and ambassadors of EU member countries, accredited to Chisinau.
