Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan citizens can resolve their conflicts in a friendly manner by using a third person. This is stipulated in a memorandum on cooperation in promoting mediation, signed between representatives of Justice Ministry, Mediation Council, Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR London), General Prosecutor's Office and Superior Council of Magistracy.
Justice Minister Vladimir Grosu said that the document was aimed at setting the mediation instrument at large and encouraging the sides to settle disputes amiably.
"Promotion of mediation process will reduce the costs and time for solving conflict and will result in a decrease in the number of files managed by prosecutors and judges", he said.
CEDR Director Ranse Howell said that the memorandum "will become part of daily life for those who sign contracts, solve business interests and hold dialogues".
Presently, the Mediation Council is made up of nine members approved under justice minister's order and selected at a public contest. The mediation procedure is part of the Justice Sector Reform Strategy for 2011-2016.
Mediation is based on trust the sides are putting in mediator, as a person able to facilitate negotiations between them and to provide assistance in settling the conflict by getting a mutually acceptable, efficient and sustainable solution.
