Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ -The National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) today launched a special unit, due to deal with fighting corruption at high level. CNA Head Viorel Chetraru and Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici provided more details on the action today.
Chetraru said that the unit’s staff would be in charge of investigating persons with high state offices and cases on damages worth over one million lei.
„Each criminal investigation officer has to solve over 30 cases and this routine does not give the employees possibility to focus on really serious cases. We hope that, once this subdivision created, the investigation of cases will be carried out more thoroughly,” Chetraru said.
Chetraru added that the concerned unit would also take care of recovery of money and goods in the wake of the inflicted damage.
For his part, Chiril Gaburici said that the initiative was coming from the government and that he fully backed this reform.
CNA recorded over 1,300 cases of corruption at different levels in the first five months of 2015.
