Joint Control Commission takes decisions to improve work of peacekeeping mechanism

Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ - Members of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), who convened at a meeting in Bender town on 11 June, reached a compromise as regards the ensuring of functionality of the peacekeeping mechanism, after JCC co-chairs (Moldova, Russia and Transnistria) and representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission took a decision in this respect, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The decisions were taken based on a request and proposals by the Moldovan and Russian delegations and were included in three minutes, signed by JCC delegations heads.
Thus, the report on organisational issue includes the approval of new members and permanent experts of Moldova’s delegation to JCC, confirmation of the military commandant of Bender town (district with enhanced security regime) and by a military observer on behalf of Moldova and Russia, as well as a representative of OSCE Mission in the Commission.
The second and third reports include the approval of 34 weekly reports on situation in the security zone by the Joint Military Commandment; as to the others, they decided to make additional analyses, the results of which will be heard in two weeks.
The participants in the meeting also tackled the ensuring of the free movement in the security zone. The sides' representatives reached compromises on most issues. At the same time, as to experts of the OSCE Missions, Russia and Ukraine carrying out monitoring of the Security Zone, the delegations got to the conclusion that additional consultations were necessary and talks were to be continued at the next JCC meeting.
The Moldovan side is confident that the decisions taken at the meeting will result in bolstering the confidence in the activity of the Commission and Joint Military Command, and will yield positive results on the environment in the security zone.
Moldova’s delegation forwarded a letter to all JCC participants as regards the local elections due in Moldova on 14 June. The letter says that, under a decision by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the polling station from Corjova village, Dubasari district, is to be relocated in Cocieri village. Concomitantly, JCC delegations were informed that CEC requested the support of the Joint Control Commission for creating conditions to ensure the free movement of Corjova residents to the voting station.
