Construction works carried out in enterprise increase by 26 per cent in first half of 2019 in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/ – In the first half of 2019, the volume of construction works carried out in the enterprise amounted to over MDL 4.1 billion, increasing by 26.1 per cent (in comparable prices), compared to the level recorded in similar period of 2018, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (BNS).

The statistics show that new construction works still have the highest share – 54.4 per cent, out of the total completed volume of works. Of the total volume of new construction works, estimated at MDL 2.24 billion, in January – June 2019, about 56.5 per cent represent residential buildings.

The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) forecasts that in upcoming 03 years the construction sector will continue to develop and have "an essential impact on growth of investments". The increase in the volume of construction works will be stimulated by the increase in domestic demand for housing, including due to implementation of the First Home state programme, as well as favourable credit situation which will be maintained in short term.
