Over 17,000 pupils from Chisinau municipality leave Moldova with families in recent years

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ – During 2008 – 2019, over 17,000 pupils which were studying in schools in Chisinau municipality, have left Moldova with their families, which is the equivalent of at least 20 educational institutions. The info was presented by the head of General department for education, culture, youth and sport, Rodica Gutu, at the Forum of teachers (FCD) in Chisinau.
According to quoted source, only during 08 months of 2019, left abroad 1,468 pupils from Chisinau municipality, compared with 907 students in 2009.
"The number of pupils moving abroad has reached alarming levels and it requires the involvement of all decision makers in identifying solutions to reduce the population exodus", said Rodica Gutu.
Attending the event, Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Liliana Nicolaescu – Onofrei, has specified that the education system faces many issues and challenges and opted to promote persons of quality and responsibility so that things can be changed for better.
At the start of school year 2018 – 2019, there were activating 145 municipal primary and secondary education institutions in Chisinau municipality.
