More Moldovan Army servicemen voluntarily donate blood

Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/ - Over 200 National Army servicemen on 10-11 September will donate blood at collection centres from the Chisinau, Cahul and Balti garrisons.
According to the head of the Defence Ministry’s medical and military department, Sergiu Cirlan, military from the Moldova, Stefan cel Mare and Dacia motorized infrantry brigades are expected to donate blood.
The action is organized by the Defence Ministry jointly with the National Blood Transfusion Centre and is part of an action plan of the national programme on transfusion security and Moldova’s supply with blood products for 2017-2021.
Data by the aforementioned ministry shows that, in 2019, more than 800 servicemen donated blood for completing the blood reserves, including of the National Army, within campaigns organized by the defence institution and the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry.
Interior Ministry employees have recently participated in a blood donation campaign to support victims of traffic accidents.
In Moldova, the needs of the blood transfusion therapy are fully covered, with more than 70,000 donations annually collected, which cover the blood transfusion treatment for about 21,000 patients, according to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry. In 2018, the number of voluntary blood donations accounted for 93.6 per cent of all blood donations.
