Moldovan parliament speaker meets her Chinese counterpart

Chisinau, 11 September /MOLDPRES/ - The strengthening and development of the inter-parliamentary cooperation between Moldova and the People’s Republic of China were discussed at a today’s meeting of Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grecianii and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
At the discussions, Zinaida Grecianii said, during the 27 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relations with China, good bilateral ties had been developed between the two countries. “We want to set a strategic cooperation relation with the People’s Republic of China and advance our interaction to a qualitatively new level,” the parliament speaker said.
In the context, Zinaida Grecianii stressed Moldova’s interest in the development of good cooperation relations with all states, based in mutual interests, by promoting a balanced foreign policy.
At the same time, the parliament speaker reiterated the invitation to the Chinese authorities and investors to inaugurate an industrial park in Moldova, get involved in the development of commercial ties, attracting potential investors and promoting exports.
The Moldovan speaker thanked for the invitation to participate in the Eurasian Economic Forum and for possibility to give a speech at this official platform of cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative, for the promotion and regional and international economic cooperation.
At the same time, Grecianii offered thanks for the opening and work of the two China – Moldova Trade Houses.
Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu appreciated the bilateral relations, noting that their dynamic was on the rise.
According to the official, China is interested in the import of wines and agro-food products from Moldova and is willing to carry out joint projects in the field of production, social, economic, education and infrastructure sectors.
Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grecianii, at the head of a parliamentary delegation, pays a working visit to China. The delegation is made up of the head of the Moldova – China parliamentary friendship group, deputy head of the commission for foreign policy and European integration Vlad Batrincea, head of the commission for national security, defence and public order, Chiril Motpan, deputy head of the commission for social protection, health and family, Vladimir Odnostalco, deputy head of the commission for agriculture and food industry, Vladimir Bolea and the parliament’s secretary general, Adrian Albu.
Moldova established diplomatic relations with China on 30 January 1992. The bilateral legal framework includes 61 agreements signed in such sectors as: commercial and economic cooperation, mutual protection of investments, avoidance of double taxation on taxes on income and capital, air services, consular field, youth, education, tourism, health, culture, etc.
Last time, a parliament speaker of Moldova paid a visit to China in 2008.
