Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ - The delegation of Russia, at a 12 September meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), reiterated its compromise proposal to consider the situation emerged through the setting of border guards posts in the Security Zone – an idea unaccepted by the Transnistrian delegation, the Reintegration Polices Bureau has reported.
Put forward for the fourth month in a row already and backed by representatives of Moldova, Ukraine and OSCE Mission in Moldova, the concerned initiative would allow tackling acute subjects, such as the overcoming of the blockage emerged following the non-approval of a string of weekly reports on the periods when abuses were identified on behalf of Transnistrian structures, especially in August 2019.
At a meeting on 25 June (the last one before the break planned for August), the Moldovan delegation intervened with a draft commitment on abstaining from committing infringements which would worsen the situation in the Security Zone – a step which was not supported by the Transnistrian side.
An eloquent example of non-observance of the agreements and protocols in force represent the provocations organized by the alleged Transnistrian security structures nearby the Pohrebea settlement, eastern Dubasari district.
Thus, a group of people, among whom more employees of the so-called mgb (state security ministry) and militia, disturbed the work of a quarry nearby, managed by a company which has the appropriate acts; the Transnistrian side, in an unjustified way, invoked the quarry’s belonging to the administrative territory of the Transnistrian region. The participants triggered altercations and resorted to physical aggression of the national police bodies’ employees, who came to ensure public order.
The addressing by the Moldovan delegation puts emphasis on the inadmissibility of power wielding forces’ involvement in provocative actions aimed at destabilizing the situation in the Security Zone and asks to tackle the subject at the next JCC meetings, including under the aspect of management and control of the situation by the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.
The participants in the meeting approved the report of the Joint Military Command for the period 4-10 September.
