Chisinau, 27 September /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon delivered a speech at the General Assembly of the United Nations on 26 September calling for the de facto recognition and observance of the neutrality status of the Republic of Moldova.
The head of state said that "any attempt to question this status is an unfriendly act to the people of the Republic of Moldova, and such approaches deepen the internal dissensions of the country even more dramatically".
"We do not want to be treated as neutral territory anymore, this is something other than a neutral state," Dodon said.
Dodon thanked all participants in the conference for political issues in negotiations on Transnistrian settlement, known as the 5+2 format.
"It is in this formula that the special status of the Transnistrian region within a sovereign and territorially integrated Moldova, within the internationally recognized borders, with full guarantee of human rights and fundamental freedoms is to be debated and agreed," the president said.
In the speech, the head of state also approached issues on the domestic and foreign policy of Moldova.
