Armenian PM might visit Moldova

Chisinau, 01 October /MOLDPRES/ – President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, has met in Yerevan with Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pasinian, the presidency’s press service has reported.

The officials discussed several themes on bilateral relations of mutual interest. The dialogue included the interaction of Moldova and Armenia at the top management level: it is the third visit of the President of Moldova to Armenia in recent 02 years, after the official visit of November 2017 and participation in the Francophone summit, which took place in October 2018.

Also, Igor Dodon thanked the Armenian leadership for supporting Moldova in obtaining observer status within the Eurasian Economic Union (UEE), in May, 2018. The head of state noted that the Moldovan – Armenian dialogue is also intensified at the diplomatic level: in 2017, at Chisinau, it was inaugurated the Embassy of Armenia, and in September 2019, in Yerevan, the Honorary Consulate of Moldova started its activity.

In this context, the President of Moldova specified that Moldova and Armenia have enormous opportunities to work within economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, especially throughout the Armenian community in Moldova, which is helping to strengthen bilateral relations. Igor Dodon wanted to mention that the head of this community, Gaik Vartanean, is MP from the Socialists' party of Moldova (PSRM) and leads the friendly parliamentary group of Moldova and Armenia.

In the context of trade – economic relations, the interlocutors noted the insufficient use of the potential existing in the respective field and reiterated their interest in further developing cooperation, including throughout the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and business circles. Also, the parties expressed their willingness to resume the activity of intergovernmental commission for commercial – economic cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, Igor Dodon invited Nikol Pasinian to pay an official visit to Moldova in March 2020.
