First issue of Musical Excellence Gala nominates laureates in Moldova

Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - Over 20 prizes were awarded at the first issue of the Musical Excellence Gala, held at the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic on the International Music Day on 1 October.
In the beginning of the event, the head of the Moldovan Musicians’ Union, Svetlana Bivol, said that the project’s goal was to stimulate and award prizes to the most creative and representative musicians, conductors, singers, musical directors, music bands, music producers, dancers, choreographers, who made themselves conspicuous and fully contributed to the development and promotion of the national music art in 2019. The candidates were selected by a council of professionals from the Musicians’ Union.
According to Svetlana Bivol, the idea of this project appeared longer ago, following discussions with the departed stage manager Elena Fedco. The laureates were awarded a diploma of excellence, a money prize and the trophy of the gala – a statue titled Armonia (The Harmony), made by sculptor Veaceslav Jiglitchi.
Singer Stefan Petrache was awarded the Mihai Dolgan prize – the golden voice of the light music. The Maria Biesu prize – the year’s voice in opera, went to singer Mariana Bulicanu. Singers Ion Suruceanu and Margareta Ivanus were offered the prize Legenda muzicii ușoare (The Light Music Legend) and Ioana Capraru was awarded the Tamara Ciobanu prize – the voice of the year in folk music.
Inter alia, a MOLDPRES reporter, Nicolae Roibu, was awarded a diploma of excellence – special mention for journalism and promotion of musical events.
The first issue of the Musical Excellence Gala was organized by the Musicians’ Union of Moldova, in partnership with the host institution, Education, Culture and Research Ministry, National Centre for the Conservation and Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage, as well as other institutions.
