Moldovan PM meets group of rapporteurs of Council of Europe

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/- Today Prime Minister Maia Sandu had a meeting with a group of rapporteurs for democracy of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, on a visit to Moldova in order to assess the implementation of the Council of Europe Action Plan 2017-2020, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The sides exchanged views on the situation in our country in several priority areas. Thus, Maia Sandu informed EU officials about the government's efforts in fighting corruption, reforming justice, restoring public confidence in state institutions, preventing money laundering, as well as investigating bank theft.
The rapporteurs of the Council of Europe were also interested in other priority areas of the executive. The prime minister pointed out infrastructure, education and health. EU officials praised the courage of Maia Sandu Government to initiate such significant changes in the country, in just a few months, and reiterated the Council of Europe’s willingness to continue to provide necessary support to our country in implementing the assumed reforms.
The evaluations of the group will be presented at a meeting with the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers.
