Switching SIS to subordination of presidential institution is normal - Moldovan secretary of Supreme Security Council says

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/- Secretary of the Supreme Security Council of Moldova Victor Gaiciuc said in an interview with MOLDPRES that the transition of the Intelligence and Security Service / SIS / to subordination of the presidential institution is normal in a country that directly elects its president.
“Given that Moldovans elect their head by direct vote, it is natural that the president to have levers to maintain security and integrity of the state,” the official said. Also, Gaiciuc said that SIS was subordinated to the presidency until 2016.
The official described the June 2019 events as “a major risk for the whole society "."It was a major risk for the whole society, the events could evolve in a direction that directly affected the national security," Gaiciuc said.
