Group of rapporteurs for democracy of Committee of Ministers of Council of Europe meet factions of parliament of Moldova

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ – While paying a documentation visit in Moldova, the delegation of the Ambassadors of the Group of Rapporteurs for Democracy (GR – DEM) of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE), has had, in the afternoon, meetings with the factions within the Parliament of Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The delegation includes the Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives of Romania, Razvan Rusu, Head of GR – DEM, from Bulgaria – Katya Todorova, from the Principality of Liechtenstein – Daniel Ospelt, from Lithuania – Laima Jureviciené, from Norway – Elisabeth Walaas, from Sweden – Mårten Ehnberg, from Switzerland – Christian Meuwly, as well as Verena Taylor, Director of the Secretariat of the Committee of Ministers, and Denis Bribosia, member of the Secretariat. Also, there were present Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Moldova, Corina Calugaru, and Head of the Office of CoE in Chisinau, William Massolin.
The rapporteurs met with representatives of the factions of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Block ACUM; Party Platform Dignity and Truth (DA), Block ACUM; Socialist Party of Moldova (PSRM); Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM); Shor party (PS). The discussions covered several issues from the internal policy agenda of Moldova.
The members of the Group are in Moldova in order to evaluate the implementation of the CoE Action Plan for Moldova 2017 – 2020 and facilitate the dialogue with the delegations of donor states. The CoE Action Plan for Moldova 2017 – 2020 was adopted by the Delegates of the Committee of Ministers of CoE on 01 February 2017. It includes projects on combating corruption and money laundering, increasing independence and effectiveness of judiciary, combating ill – treatment and impunity, confidence – building measures between the two banks of the Dniester, protection of children against sexual exploitation and abuse, education for democracy, etc.
