Moldovan president to pay visit to Uzbekistan

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ – President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, has had a discussion with President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the presidency’s press service has reported.
During the dialogue, the officials mentioned the need to activate bilateral relations at all levels, taking into account the fact that the exchange of visits of Presidents took place over 20 years ago, and the last meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of trade – economic cooperation was held in 2002. In this context, Igor Dodon and Shavkat Mirziyoyev were unanimous in the opinion on the opportunity of organising a visit of the President of Moldova to Uzbekistan, in 2020.
Also, the officials referred upon the importance of invigorating contacts at the level of Parliaments of Moldova and Uzbekistan. On it, the parties rely on the activity of parliamentary friendship groups, in Moldova this group being led by MP of the Socialists' party (PSRM), Bogdan Tirdea.
Further within discussion, Igor Dodon and Shavkat Mirziyoyev reiterated their mutual interest in developing trade – economic cooperation, including the size of chambers of commerce and industry and business circles, by organising business forums, taking into account the fact that in Uzbekistan there activate 14 enterprises with Moldovan capital. Also, the parties pointed to the existence of a huge potential in commercial – economic field, which is not exploited at its due value.
