Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon has participated in a festive meeting on the beginning of a new academic year, the series XIII, of the National Justice Institute (INJ). The institution was inaugurated by the president of Moldova 13 years ago, the presidential press service has reported.

The National Justice Institute was set up with the support of the Council of Europe and it plays a key role in the judicial formation, strengthening of the judicial power in the widest sense of this word.

In his speech, Igor Dodon stressed that the subject of justice reform was quite topical. For this reason, the president took note with interest of the Venice Commission’s opinion on the draft on justice reform. The head of state sees no reason for concern as to the recommendations made, as long as they are taken into account by the Justice Ministry in the final adjusting of the draft law and neither he doubts the expertise provided by the Commission, as the opinion, to a great extent, coincides with the position of the Presidency.

The Moldovan president noted that, unfortunately, the leadership had to postpone the launch of the justice reform, in order to adjust the draft law to the recommendations by the Venice Commission’s experts, so that an authentic and truthful reform is eventually implemented.

Igor Dodon considers that the justice reform must be started and thought out in the process of training the future magistrates and prosecutors of Moldova. “The most valuable and precious investment of the state is in the human factor, in people; an investment which should be subsequently proved by professionalism, virtue and intransigence,” the head of state said.

The Moldovan president stressed that INJ must become the only way of access to the profession of judge and prosecutor and the state should turn to good account its investment. At the same time, Igor Dodon considers that priority and emphasis should be put on the INJ’s graduates, on well-educated young people and the accession to this profession of other categories, based on the length of service, must be minimized.

In his capacity of president, Igor Dodon signed, without reserves, the decrees on appointment of absolutely all INJ graduates to the office of judge. “This is my credit of trust, which I gave to the graduates and which is to be turned to good account through the act of justice, so that the entire society has confidence in the judicial power!” the head of state added.
