Romania strengthens position of main market for Moldovan goods

Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/- Romania has consolidated its position as the main market for Moldovan goods after rising 4.0 percent in nine months of 2019. Over 43 percent of Moldovan goods exported to European Union countries reach the Romanian market, according to data of the National Statistics Bureau (BNS).
Moldova exported to Romania in January-August 2019 goods worth 507.9 million dollars, Moldovan goods deliveries to the EU market amounting to 1 billion 173.9 million dollars.
The BNS data shows that three EU member countries: Romania, Italy and Germany rank top three positions in the TOP5 destinations of Moldovan goods. The share of the three countries in total Moldovan exports is 47.7 percent.
The greatest influence on export growth in nine months of the year was the export of machinery and transport equipment, which accounted for 24.8 percent of total exports. Also, exports of food and live animals, which accounted for 22.3 percent of total exports, and items manufactured variously - 21.6 percent.
According to the BNS, in January-August 2019, exports of goods amounted to 1787.6 million dollars, more than that achieved in the corresponding period of the previous year by 2.0 percent. In the last four months, however, there was a trend of declining exports compared to the similar period of 2018.
