Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/- Members of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), dismissed by the Extraordinary General Assembly of Judges, were to convene in a meeting today. However, the meeting did not take place.

CSM acting head Dorel Musteață said that due to lack of quorum, the agenda cannot be examined, so that the meeting is postponed to a later date.

Thus, CSM members dismissed from office were to consider Ion Druță's request for resignation as president of the Supreme Court of Justice and to approve the draft decision approving the draft law to amend the Law on the Superior Council of Magistracy.

On 27 September, over 200 judges convened in the General Assembly of Judges. They decided to dismiss six members of the CSM. 164 of the 202 magistrates present at the meeting voted for the dismissal of the interim president of the CSM, Dorel Musteață. Victor Micu was dismissed with 118 votes, Anatolie Galben with 162 votes, Luiza Gafton, Petru Moraru and Nina Cernat were dismissed with 167 votes, and the alternate member, Anatolie Pahapol, was dismissed with 155 pro votes and 18 against.

Recently, the magistrates of the Chisinau Court declared inadmissible the action filed by five members of the CSM against the Association of Judges requesting to confirm and declare null and void the decision of the General Assembly of Judges, by which they were dismissed from office. The decision can be appealed within 15 days.
