Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - The heads of public authorities who fail to properly fulfill their duties might be dismissed. The head of the parliament’s commission for rules and immunities, Sergiu Litvinenco, has informed that he today registered a legislative initiative which provides for additional grounds for dismissing heads of institutions from office.
According to Litvinenco, the draft law is meant to make more responsible the autonomous public authorities, which are under parliamentary control. “At present, a string of leaders of public authorities, although they do not properly fulfill their duties, cannot be dismissed, suspended or recalled, as the legislation does not contain grounds for this. The draft law which we will register, along with the colleagues from the ACUM bloc, introduces supplementary grounds for dismissal, so that it enables the ceasing of the mandates of officials who fail to exercise their powers established by law or who deliberately infringe the law,” Litvinenco said.
The lawmaker also said that the draft proposed the de jure cessation of the mandates of the members of the Competition Council and Audiovisual Council, once the laws enters into force, the nomination by the parliament of interim members and organization of contests for the appointment of new members. The document also established a cut in the number of members of the Court of Accounts.
