Moldovan hospitals to provide assistance to all people suspected of COVID-19

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ -The public medical and sanitary institutions will ensure the providing of medical assistance to all people who meet the criteria of definition of case for COVID-19, no matter their status in the Mandatory Health Insurances System (insured/non-insured). Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations took a decision to this effect at a meeting on 20 March.

„The expenses borne by the public medical and sanitary institutions nominated by the orders of the Health Labour and Social Protection Ministry, involved in the providing of medical assistance to the patients mentioned in the point 3, are covered from the means of the mandatory health insurance accounts,” the Commission’s decision reads.

On the period of the state of emergency, if the public medical and sanitary institutions do not carry out the volume of medical assistance stipulated in the contracts of providing medical services, the National Health Insurances Company (CNAM) will monthly make payments in advance to the concerned institutions worth 80 per cent from 1/12 part of the contractual sum.  

If necessary, the Health Labour and Social Protection Ministry will revise the priorities in the providing of medical assistance by all the providers of medical services, no matter the organizational and legal form and CNAM will work out proposals on adjusting the normative framework and will change the contracts on the providing of medical assistance (of providing of medical services).

State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020.
