Moldovan PM has meeting with Ambassador of Austria

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Austria to Moldova Christine Freilinger, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

In the beginning of the meeting, the PM expressed appreciation for the ascendant dynamic of the Moldovan-Austrian relations, as well as for the significant contribution of the head of the diplomatic mission, Christine Freilinger, - the first resident Ambassador of Austria to Moldova, to the promotion and strengthening of the Moldovan-Austrian dialogue.    

Ion Chicu thanked for the constant support provided by Austria to Moldova in diverse fields on the agenda of the bilateral cooperation and for ensuring the continuity of Moldova’s support in processes of the country’s reformation and modernization, as well as in the advancement in the process of Moldova‘s European integration. Also, the prime minister expressed gratitude for the substantial technical assistance provided by Austria, including through the projects implemented by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).    

„We express deep gratitude for the support and solidarity gesture of Austria’s government provided to Moldova in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, we have every determination to continue the processes underway on the European integration segment, ensuring the citizens’ well-being and implementing the government’s reforms agenda,’’ the PM said.  

For her part, Austrian Ambassador Christine Freilinger thanked the prime minister for the interest displayed in the boosting and diversification of the economic cooperation between the two countries and reiterated the backing for Moldova’s European integration.   

„We offer thanks to the cabinet for the good cooperation during the mandate and we further rely on an open dialogue and turning to good account the current potential of multi-dimensional Moldovan-Austrian collaboration,’’ Christine Freilinger said.     

The officials expressed openness for the consistent development and consolidation of the good relations between Moldova and Austria in diverse sectors of mutual interest, including through the development of bilateral projects.
