Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today made specifications on the way the students and pupils with right to vote will participate in the presidential elections.
According to a CEC’s press release, the students and pupils with right to vote have at their disposal three ways they can take part in the ballot due on 1 November.
At the elections for the office of Moldova’s president on 1 November 2020, the students and pupils with right to vote, matriculated at education institutions from a settlement, and who do not have registration at their domicile, can vote as follows: by coming, on the voting day, to the polling station where they reside or have their valid residence, according to the identity card. If the students and pupils with right to vote have their domicile or residence valid, they will vote at the polling station in the territorial area of which they have their residence.
Also, students and pupils can declare their new residence place till 1 October at the latest, at the mayoralty/district praetor’s office (in the case of Chisinau municipality), in order to be able to be registered in the electoral list from the polling station corresponding to the residence place. The declaration is submitted personally by the applicant at the presentation of the identity card with the accompanying sheet in original and the copy. After the declaration is filed, people will be registered in the basic electoral list of the polling station where they are to vote.
If they fail to declare the new residence place, voters can address themselves to the electoral bureau of the polling station in the area of the domicile or residence valid and take a certificate for right to vote, which will allow them voting in any other polling station. This procedure will be valid for the period 12-31 October. Based on the certificate for right to vote, citizens register on the additional list and the certificate remains at the bureau of the polling station and is attached to the additional list.
