International journalists, sommeliers to participate online in National Wine Day in Moldova

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - The National Wine Day, scheduled for early next October, will be marked outside Moldova as well. The National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV) on 3 October will organize a webinar online, dedicated to the 19th issue of the wine holiday, along with nine foreign guests specialized in the field.
Journalists and sommeliers of international level from the United Kingdom, France, Canada, the Netherlands, USA, Denmark, Belgium, etc. will come up with the urge „Eu deVIN sărbătoare” ” (My Moldovan Wine Day). ‘’This urge is to continue celebrating the National Wine Day, with the observance of the safety measures, as well as to consolidate the feeling of national pride for the product which brought us fame in the world. The event could be watched on the page Facebook Wine of Moldova starting from 19:00,’’ an ONVV press release reads.
The tasting will be moderated by a writer from London, specialized in wines, Jamie Goode, along with whom the participants will explore wine-making traditions from Moldova: beginning with native varieties, continuing with ways of production and ending with the future of the vine and wine-making production. ‘’Jamie Goode is a journalist from the United Kingdom, who is presently commentator of wines at the national British newspaper, The Sunday Express. The journalist won the prize Glenfiddich Wine Writer (2007) and writes for a string of publications, among which World of Fine Wine, as well as Wine Business International. The foreign experts and journalists will make a trans-continental online tasting of four emblematic wines from Moldova. Among the wines due to be analyzed and enjoyed, there are Negru de Purcari from the Purcari winery, Negre from the Fautor winery, Feteasca Neagra Individo from Chateau Vartely, Harap Alb from Minis Terrios winery. Thus, participants will have occasion to ‘’travel’’ to Moldova and learn the specific feature of the country’s vine-growing and wine-making sector. Moreover, they will discuss the National Wine Day and the holiday’s impact internationally and will make a review of the evolution of the vine-growing and wine-making sector from Moldova in the last years.
After the wines are tasted, the foreign guests will write about wines of Moldova and the National Wine Day, thus backing the promotion efforts launched by ONVV. Also, before the holiday, 1,260 foreign journalists from 38 countries received information on the vine-growing and wine-making sector of Moldova, didactic events and oeno-touristic destinations.
The National Wine day will be held in the first week-end of next October. The 19th issue of the event will have the slogan, My Moldovan Wine Day, and comes with a special schedule, more in the virtual space.
