Ambassador of Austria to Mopldova awarded Order of Honour

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had a farewell meeting with Ambassador of Austria to Moldova Christine Freilinger.
According to the presidential press service, at the meeting, the head of state appreciated the prodigious activity of the ambassador to Moldova during her mandate. Igor Dodon offered sincere thanks to the diplomat for the substantial contribution to the development and strengthening of the Moldovan-Austrian friendship and cooperation relations in all sectors of mutual interest.
The Moldovan president thanked for the efficient cooperation within international organizations and especially within OSCE, in advancing the process of negotiations on identifying solutions to settle the Transnistrian problem.
In another context, the head of state spoke out for the increasing in the bilateral trade, as well as for diversifying the economic cooperation. Data by the National Statistics Bureau shows that, in 2019, the volume of bilateral commercial exchanges amounted to 123 million dollars. The export of goods made on the concerned period stood at 31 million dollars and the import recorded a sum of 92 million dollars.
Igor Dodon said that, although Austria remained one of the principal foreign investors in Moldova, ranking seventh among the EU states, we declare for the attraction of new Austrian investments in Moldova.
In the end, the Moldovan president wished Christine Freilinger much success in her further work and hander her Order of Honour, as a token of deep gratitude for the substantial contribution to the development and consolidation of the Moldovan-Austrian friendship and cooperation relations.
