Moldovan PM visits Comrat city affected by floods

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/- Today, Prime Minister Ion Chicu inspected several homes in Comrat, which were severely affected by heavy rains. He was informed that at present, 50 rescue teams are taking all measures to eliminate the consequences of the floods, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

IGSU Head Mihai Harabagiu said that bad weather affected over 35 households, 5 people, including 3 children, needed the help of rescuers to evacuate their homes. For the time being, works are being carried out to evacuate the goods, pump water and clean the mud houses.

The premier asked those responsible to take all necessary measures in the region to eliminate the consequences and assured that the government will provide full support in this regard.

"The local commission for emergencies is to assess the damage caused by the floods. Subsequently, the government will allocate the financial resources from the Reserve Fund to liquidate the consequences caused by the floods.”

Comrat Mayor Serghei Anastasov said that over 1 million 800 thousand lei would be needed for cleaning the river in the locality. A decision is to be made on the allocation of the necessary financial resources.

Bashkan of Gagauzia Irina Vlah thanked Chisinau authorities for prompt intervention and efficient cooperation, and noted that authorities in Gagauzia will continue to work under alert in the next period.
