Chisinau, 30 September /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet members, at a today’s meeting, changed a government decision from 2016 on measures of preventing the introduction of the African Swine Fever Virus. The present draft proposes to abrogate the ban on the import from Ukraine of raw material for fodder, combined fodder, complementary fodder, masterbatch and complete fodder.
„The lack of precipitation on the autumn-winter and early spring period, as well as the minimum reserve productive humidity in the soil layer led to the compromising of the winter crops at a level of 25 per cent in the northern region and up to 60-10 per cent in the central and south Moldova. As much as 259,000 hectares out of those 303,000 hectares of crops considered by local special commissions proved to be hit and thus, the harvest of cereals from the first and second groups, which serve as fodder basis for the animal husbandry sector, was significantly compromised,’’ reads an informative note of the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry.
According to the quoted source, in order to supply the poultry, bovine, ovine and porcine sector with raw material for food, avoid the diminution of the livestock, as well as the increase in the production costs, it is necessary to lift the restrictions on the import of fodder from Ukraine. Thus, the permanent access of residents to enough and qualitative food products of animal and vegetal origin will be guaranteed, consolidating the national food security.
Given the pressing need to provide the animal husbandry sector and the processing industry with fodder raw material, these provisions will enter into force on the date of publication in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
