About 24 million lei to be allocated to pay allowances to employees infected with COVID-19 in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 September /MOLDPRES/ - About 24 million lei will be allocated from the government’s intervention fund to central and local public administration authorities for the providing of one-off allowances to the employees infected with COVID-19 while exercising their job duties. A decision to this effect was taken at a cabinet meeting today.   

Under the government decision, the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry will receive almost 8.6 million lei and the Chisinau Municipal Council – about 3 million lei.  

Also, the Justice Ministry, Defence Ministry, Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, Interior ministry, Superior Council of Magistracy, General Prosecutor’s Office, National Anticorruption Centre, local councils from  Moldova’s cities and districts, executive committee of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia will also receive money. As many as 1,497 people from benefit from allowances.    

The aforementioned public authorities, as beneficiaries of financial means earmarked, bear responsibility for the data presented and will process, in the way established, the needed documents for financing the concerned spending through the institutions where the people work. The Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry will inform the local public authorities about the nominal list of beneficiaries of one-off allowances, under the provisions of this decision.  

The employees infected with COVID-19 will benefit from one-off allowances worth 16,000 lei, in line with the Instruction by Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations.
