Moldovan foreign affairs minister, president of Inter-Parliamentary Union discuss parliamentary diplomacy

Chisinau, 30 September /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea today had a meeting with President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Gabriela Cuevas Barron, on a working visit to Moldova, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The officials highlighted the importance of the parliamentary diplomacy as essential instrument complementary for the governmental diplomacy. The sides assessed the priority sectors in the collaboration with the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Minister Oleg Tulea appreciated the IPU president’s personal contribution, during the mandate, to the promotion and strengthening of the inter-parliamentary relations, including the ones with Moldova, meant to help develop the democracy between the member states.
Taking into account the long political experience of the Mexican official in her country, including the capacity of member of the parliament of the United Mexican States, the interlocutors referred also to the current state of the Moldovan-Mexican bilateral relations and possibilities to boost the cooperation in the economic, agro-industrial, tourism sectors, as well as the exchange of experience in the fight with the pandemic.
Oleg Tulea and Gabriela Cuevas Barron also touched upon the opportunity to strengthen the legal framework on the commercial and economic dimension through the signing of agreements on the mutual promotion and protection of investments and avoiding the double taxation, which would represent a direct stimulus to advancing the bilateral cooperation ties.
