Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/- The 1 October Official Journal published the government's decision on approving the draft law amending the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova. The government voted on the draft, requesting the approval of the Constitutional Court and subsequently presenting it to parliament for consideration.
Among the changes included in the draft is the provision saying “judges of the courts are appointed, in accordance with the law, until reaching the age limit by the president at the proposal of the Superior Council of Magistracy. The president may reject the candidacy proposed by the Superior Council of Magistracy only once”.
The draft law also sees “in elaboration, approval and modification of the budget of the courts, approval of the Superior Council of Magistracy is requested. The Superior Council of Magistracy is entitled to present to the parliament proposals for the draft budget of the courts ”.
The implementation of the project does not require additional financial resources from the state budget and involves the occurrence of only adjustments at the organizational level in the pre-established process of appointing the members of the Superior Council of Magistracy and appointing judges.
