First truck with Moldovan plums arrives in Italy

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - The first truck with Moldovan plums from the 2020 harvest has arrived in Italy. The consignment was sent by an enterprise member of the Moldova Fruct Association of Fruits Producers and Exporters.

„This is a result of sustained efforts within the programme of mentorship at export to the EU market, implemented by Moldova Fruct, financed by the International Finance Corporation and CBI-Netherlands within the project, Reform of Investment Climate in Moldova. Thanks to this programme, more companies members of the Moldova Fruct Association have built marketing strategies, implement quality standards and in this way, they managed to access new markets,’’ a specialist in marketing at Moldova Fruct, Adrian Cojocaru, said.

„The goal of our programme is to provide Moldovan agricultural companies with needed instruments, both theoretical and practical ones, for accessing highly competitive markets from EU. And we are happy very much when we see the first achievements in this respect, which persuade us that the new knowledge and abilities got within the programme are applied by companies and yield nice results and we hope, long-lasting ones, ‘’ a specialist in agro-business, Felicia Pricop, said.

The Italian importer is contented with the quality of fruits received and is interested in visiting fruits producers from Moldova in a mission. The buyer said it would be interested also in Moldovan sweet cherries for the next season. ‘’This year, we make several test procurements; it is about several trucks with plums; next year, we would like to work with Moldovan producers based on programme,’’ the Italian importer said.

Moldova Fruct represents 180 modern enterprises working in the farming sector: producers, processors, exporters of fruits, as well as providers of services. An essential goal of the organization is to diversify the markets for highly qualitative fruits from Moldova: apples, plums, sweet cherries, apricots, table grapes, as well processed goods.
