Moldovan PM visits site of construction of local road

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today visited the site of construction of the Costesti-Molesti road. The contract provides for the building of about 4.5 km of road with a budget of more than 21.56 million lei, allocated from the Road Fund, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

The PM was informed that the works were carried out in the terms scheduled, with 900 metres of the road segment due to be asphalted. In the next two weeks, the works of construction of the bridge will be completed. The road segment, which serves about 17,000 residents, will be made available for use till late 2020. On this occasion, the residents of the Molesti village thanked Prime Minister Chicu for the government’s contribution to developing the infrastructure in the region, noting that the road segment had not been repaired in the last 50 years.

The prime minister warned the construction company to observe all quality norms. ‘’We will take care, so that the public money not be wasted; we rely on the observance of the quality standards, as the regional infrastructure is a first step to the country’s industrialization,’’ the PM said.  

Ion Chicu also visited the Costesti mayoralty, where he discussed with representatives of the village council the problems faced by the residents of the zone. Representatives of the local public authorities (APL) said the heavy rains of the last days had inflicted considerable damages to farmers of the settlement. In the context, the PM said the government was to identify the needed resources to continue the procedure of compensating the damages. ‘’The cabinet increased up to 70 per cent the quantum of subsidization of the premium for insuring the production risks in agriculture. Thus, we have boosted the sustainability of the farming sector. We continue working on this segment,’’ the prime minister said.     

At the same time, the Costesti village mayor, Vasile Borta, referred to the necessity of investments in projects on water supply and solid waste management. In the context, Ion Chicu touched upon the Solid Waste Management project, worth 100 million euros. ‘’The project’s implementation will start in the Nisporeni, Calarasi and Ungheni districts and, during time, it will extend in the other regions. The problem will be removed from all over Moldova with patience and right management of the financial means provided by the European Investment Bank,’’ the prime minister noted.   

PM Chicu visited also the Olimp theoretical lyceum from Costesti, where works of restoring the roof are carried out. Following precipitation, both stores were hit and the network of cables was affected by a short circuit. Thus, the education process was temporarily ceased.   

In this respect, Prime Minister Chicu instructed to take urgent measures to remedy the consequences of the bad weather. ‘’Assess the damages, allocate the necessary financial means from the local reserve fund, or at the expense of the economic operator in charge of the works, so that the pupils return to classes as soon as possible. At the same time, the expertise of the building should be made, as children’s safety is priority,’’ Ion Chicu added.
