Chisinau thermoelectric system to be optimized under project supported by IBRD

Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/- Moldova has signed with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development a loan agreement on the second project to improve the efficiency of centralized heat supply system worth 92 million euros.
The project provides for the optimization of generating thermal and electrical energy, thus contributing to the improvement of productivity and security of electricity and thermal supply of consumers in Chisinau.
"The project also aims to increase the efficiency of the cogeneration process by installing new energy production equipment, sustainable development of Termoelectrica cmpant, as well as making pilot investments in energy efficiency in public and residential buildings," said sources from the Ministry of Economy.
"By implementing this project, the residents of the capital will benefit from quality thermal energy supply services. At the same time, the reconstruction and modernization of CET equipment will help reduce pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions. I express my gratitude to the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for supporting our country in enhancing the centralized heat supply system in Chisinau ", Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Sergiu Railean said.
The project is to be completed on 31 December 2025, and its implementation meets the goals of the Energy Strategy of Moldova by 2030.
